About us
Washington United Migrant is a community-based nonprofit organization founded by immigrants who believe that the strongest solutions come from within the community. Guided by the principle of migrant-to-migrant support, we work alongside immigrant individuals and families across Washington State, building trusted relationships that connect people with knowledge, resources, and opportunities. By recognizing the strengths, experiences, and leadership within our communities, we help reduce barriers, foster belonging, and create lasting, community-driven solutions that strengthen individuals, families, and communities.
Founded in 2024 by three Latino immigrants from Chile, Mexico, and Peru, Washington United Migrant was created by individuals who have experienced and navigated barriers related to language, immigration status, and discrimination. United by their commitment to creating greater opportunities and a stronger sense of community for other immigrants, they were inspired by their own experiences and chose to transform those challenges into action.
Guided by the principle of “migrant-to-migrant support,” they believe that immigrants are an essential part of the solution, demonstrating through action that immigrant communities contribute meaningfully to the social, economic, and cultural development of their communities.
Washington United Migrant is committed to providing coordinated support that responds to the needs of our communities. We have dedicated volunteers and community members engaged across Thurston, Mason, Lewis, Grays Harbor, Pierce, King, and Yakima counties. In addition to this grassroots presence, we collaborate with local organizations across Washington State.
Through this work, we reaffirm our commitment to building a more equitable future where immigrants are valued as a key force in the development and well-being of our communities.
