With the support of CHOICE, Washington United Migrant is launching a project that promotes health equity through a culturally relevant and trust-based community approach.
This project—called «Circulos de Bienestar»—is designed by and for Latino migrant families, aiming to reduce barriers to care, strengthen belonging, and bring health resources closer to those who need them most.
Why Is It Important to Talk About Health Equity?
Health is not only determined by medical services; it is also deeply connected to language access, information, working conditions, and immigration status.
Many Latino families face structural barriers that make it difficult to care for their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Promoting health equity means recognizing these barriers and responding with respectful, culturally appropriate solutions grounded in lived experience.
What Are We Doing?
Through this project, we are creating safe and virtual wellness spaces where migrant families can access clear information, community support, and useful resources in their own language.
The project blends the knowledge of bilingual health professionals with the lived experience of migrant community leaders, building trust, connection, and collective learning.
We are also developing Spanish-language informational materials and outreach strategies to ensure that those without digital or institutional access are not left behind.
What Impact Are We Seeking?
More than sharing information, «Circulos de Bienestar» aims to create relationships, open dialogue, and empower migrant families with real tools to care for their health.
We hope this model can serve as a foundation for future programs and inspire other communities facing similar challenges.
A Message from WUM
At Washington United Migrant, we understand that wellbeing begins when people feel heard, valued, and connected to their identity. We also thank CHOICE for believing in this community-led proposal.
We continue walking, migrant to migrant, toward a more human, accessible, and just approach to health.
