Energy - Saving project
Energy-saving project supports migrant families in rural Washington by promoting energy savings and environmental justice through culturally relevant workshops and resources.
This project supports migrant families in rural Washington, especially in Yakima, Franklin, Benton, and Grant counties, by addressing environmental injustices and promoting energy savings at home. We aim to reduce energy costs and improve well-being through culturally relevant workshops, tools, and resources that encourage sustainable practices.
Our activities include:
- 3 virtual workshops (15 participants each)
- 45 energy-saving kits for migrant families
- 2 testimonial videos
- Educational materials for ongoing learning
Workshops
Through our model, we train community members to become community leaders dedicated to the collective well-being of their neighborhoods. With a peer-to-peer approach, we foster community learning grounded in trust and shared experience.
On April 3rd, 2025, six community leaders were trained to facilitate three virtual workshops focused on home energy-saving strategies. This project will benefit 45 families, equipping them with practical tools to reduce energy use and improve their quality of life.
Energy - Saving kits
45 participants from Yakima, Grant, Benton, and Franklin counties have received energy-saving kits to install in their homes, empowering them to improve energy efficiency and reduce their overall energy consumption.
Each Energy-Saving Kit includes:
6 LED Bulbs to provide efficient, long-lasting lighting
1 Water-efficient Showerhead to conserve both water and energy
2 Smart Plugs to help manage and optimize the energy usage of household devices
