In November 2025, nine community promotoras supported by Washington United Migrant (WUM) completed a 20-hour training through the Fall 2025 Trauma-Informed GPS program.
WUM secured scholarships to support their participation as part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening the capacity, leadership, and professional development of promotoras within our community. By removing financial barriers, we aim to ensure that community leaders have access to high-quality training opportunities that enhance their ability to serve others.
The training, delivered in Spanish, focused on trauma-informed and peer support approaches, equipping participants with practical tools to better assist individuals and families facing complex challenges. These skills are essential in building trust, promoting emotional well-being, and providing culturally responsive support.
This effort reflects our continued investment in promotoras as key leaders who play a vital role in connecting migrant families to resources, information, and community-based support systems, while also strengthening the overall resilience of the communities we serve.
