Perinatal Mental Health project
Our Perinatal Mental Health Project supports immigrant women and their families during pregnancy and postpartum by creating spaces for education, connection, and support. We aim to strengthen emotional well-being, reduce isolation, and help families access the resources and services they need.

Workshops
We worked alongside 6 trained community promotoras to provide 3 virtual workshops for 48 immigrant women during pregnancy and postpartum. The project combined culturally responsive education, individualized support, and opportunities for connection, helping participants identify their needs and access relevant community resources.
Testimonials
“Through the Perinatal Mental Health program, I’ve been able to connect with other women who, like me, are mothers. We’ve shared our experiences of motherhood and supported each other while accessing the resources the organization provides.”
“I have a one-year-old and a five-year-old, and I believe no one understands a mom like another mom does. I’m grateful for this space to connect because it’s good for us, and it’s something we really need.”
“I’m in the final stage of my pregnancy, and I feel scared. This is my first time, and no one teaches us how to be mothers. But I’m happy to have found a group where I can learn and share my emotions and concerns.”
Home Visits
Our community promotoras conduct home visits to provide participants with personalized support in a comfortable and familiar setting. During each visit, they share information and conduct a needs assessment to better understand each family’s challenges and identify resources they may need.
Based on the needs identified, participants can be connected to our Care Coordination Program for guidance, access to resources, and follow-up support.
Self-care Activity
As part of the Perinatal Mental Health Project, we held an in-person yoga session for pregnant women and new mothers. The activity created a space to pause, support physical and emotional well-being, and connect with other women going through similar experiences during pregnancy and postpartum.
Podcast
A conversation space created to share information, experiences, and resources related to community well-being. We developed five episodes, available on our YouTube channel, covering topics such as the role of partners during the perinatal period, support groups, doulas, and other sources of support during this stage.
This project is part of the Perinatal Mental Health Capacity Building Project, funded by the Washington State Department of Health.
